Questions and answers about Six Month Smiles®

The following FAQs should be reviewed when looking into different teeth straightening options.

What is a Six Month Smile®?

Six Month Smiles® refers to a straightening treatment that focuses on misspaced, crooked, and misaligned teeth. It is administered in two different options, with the first being invisible aligners and the second being clear braces. Both options produce results in six months or less, so long as discipline is maintained throughout the process.

How does the process work?

The process involves the same things that any other teeth straightening treatment would! Patients are expected to visit the dentist on a regular basis for check-ups. Depending on the route chosen, the necessary adjustments will be made. For example, if aligners are chosen then a new set will be worn every couple of weeks. Or, if braces are cemented to the teeth then the dentist will tighten wires on a regular basis to match the shift.

Are there any benefits to Six Month Smiles®?

There are a ton of benefits, which are outlined below.

  • Both Six Month Smiles® options are hard to detect, as both rely on clear technology
  • The turn around times are six months or less, which is incredibly short in the teeth straightening world
  • Budget-friendly: As the treatment time is shorter, costs are reduced
  • Oral hygiene is easier to maintain after treatment, as the teeth are straighter and more evenly aligned, thus reducing the small crevices from empty spaces, crowding, or crookedness

Of course, each patient may have their own specific benefits, which can be identified during a consultation.

Does it really only take six months?

Yes! Almost all individuals who undergo Six Month Smiles® experience their desired results in six months, or less. In some rare scenarios, treatment may extend past the expected finish date; however, this is up to the patient's and dentist's discretion.

What happens afterward?

After the treatment process is complete, patients undergo the same maintenance steps as with any other teeth-straightening method. A retainer is administered to help ensure that the results remain in effect permanently.

Who can get Six Month Smiles®?

Individuals that are over the age of 16 may be eligible for the treatment. However, it is only proven to be successful for those who have minor to moderate misalignments, crookedness, and spacing issues.
